Allergy testing by hair analysis
What is it?
This is a fast, convenient and effective way of finding out what things you are sensitive to by cutting a sample of hair and analysing it. You will receive a report listing 315 foods and substances and a measure of your sensitivity to each one.
Why use the hair?
Most things that we are exposed to ultimately end up in the blood and the blood nourishes the hair. Therefore, as the hair grows out it leaves a chemical fingerprint of what your body has been exposed to and how your body has reacted.
This technique is based on substances that you have consumed and come into contact with within the lifetime of the hair sample. The findings will depend on the length of your hair and the rate of growth. If you are aware that you have a serious allergy that can cause a severe reaction and have therefore tended to avoid the substance in question, this allergy test will not highlight that.
What will happen?
You will need to come into the clinic or call us, where we will take a small sample of a dozen or so hairs from an unobtrusive area of the scalp and you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. The hair will then be sent off to our laboratory for testing. A week later you will be invited back to the clinic to collect your allergy report. At the same time one of our experienced Consultants will sit down with you and work through the report, highlighting important issues and giving our own perspective on your health based on the principles of natural medicine.
How useful is it?
