Nappy rash treatment – organic balm

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Nappy rash can be a great problem for babies and toddlers who are stuck in nappies (diapers) all day.  The skin is continually exposed to moisture and a red rash can develop.

Many creams can contain products which can be harmful for your baby’s sensitive skin.

Nappy Rash treatment

Healthwise Purple Balm is 100% organic and is certified by the Soil Association, so you can be sure of the quality.  Because it does not have the fillers and chemical products used in high street creams, you may find it a little different to apply.  Yes, it is a little more work but it is the only way we can keep the product natural and chemical-free.  Scrape a little from the jar with the spatula provided, and warm it between your fingers for a few minutes to soften it.  As it is firmer to the touch toddlers are less likely to make a mess with it…which can be a bonus!

See what some mothers have said ..

“fast acting”
Ive been using the purple balm on my 6 month old son and it has been fantastic!
When applied to his nappy rash it cleared up within a couple of days.He also suffers from dry skin and eczema. I applied to balm to his forehead, which was particularly dry, and to his cheeks which were dry and red. The redness dissapeared almost immediately after application, and his skin looked much healthier and moisturised- a much better result than the product I had been using on prescription from my G.P! I did find the balm a little difficult to apply, I agree with what others have said-if it were a little softer it would be easier. All in all though, a brilliant product, it has made a big difference to my sons skin and Im very suprised and pleased with the results!

“purple balm”
We tested the purple balm.Overall i found it a good product. The smell was a little off putting and it was a little hard to apply.
I used the balm on alices sore bottom and it did reduse the redness but because it was difficult to apply i couldnt get the amount on that i think was needed.
The balm is hard to scrape and if it was softer this would help.
I also used the balm on my 5 year olds sore chin. She has a chapped lip and vaseline wasnt doing anything. The purple balm is brilliant for this, really reduced the redness and emily said it wasnt sore either!!so thumbs up for that!!!
Overall a good product that does what it says!!but coiuld be a little softer/creamier

“Quick acting”
The purple balm works brilliantly, so a herby smell is a small price to pay!! It got rid of Jaidyn’s nappy rash quickly and she’s not had any more since. I put it on at each nappy change and even after a rather bad nappy on the school run her bum stays pink and not red raw.
Also no more red chin when we’ve been out. A brilliant balm.

We would love to hear what results you get with the balm for your baby’s skin.  It can be used wherever the skin is red, which can also include cheeks and chins as well as babies bottoms.  More about Purple Balm

Anti aging creams – increased risk of cancer

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Anti aging creams have been found to encourage a risk of cancer.

There are so many anti-aging processes available to women and men from Botox to the surgeon’s knife, that anti-aging creams have seemed like a safe alternative.

We all want to look better for longer – how can a simple cream be harmful?

The views of a US professor have been published this week in the tabloids .. he thinks anti-aging creams could be the most dangerous cosmetic products on the market.

At Heathwise we believe in natural, not chemical products.  Even if we are assured that the chemical quantities are so slight that they cannot make a difference, the incremental toxic overload in cosmetic and bodycare products is harmful.

The additional factor is that the environment generally has become more toxic and minor increases in toxins from a multitude of different sources adds up to dangerous quantities.

Far better to use a natural product to enhance beauty like Beauty Balm.  The skin will not be stripped, and the product is certified by the Soil Association.. so it is good for the planet, too.

Spring diet – talk by Andrew Loosely

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Andrew Loosely will be giving a talk on Nature’s Diet – a healthy way to eat on Tuesday 24 March at Healthwise Clinic.

Surprisingly, we should all be having some bitterness in our diet at the moment, because it helps the natural detox. “Spring is the time when our bodies naturally detox so it is the perfect time to lose weight” says Andrew.

Coughs, colds, skin problems and cholesterol can be worse in the Spring, and you can discover what to eat to solve these health problems. Find out more

And of course it is better for your body than an extreme procedure or starvation diet. Come along and share the lemons!

Valentine’s Day lips

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

It’s the day to get close to the one you love.

But lips get chapped by the winter wind and dried out by central heating and don’t feel as good as you would like.

The most famous lip treatment – Vaseline – is made from, yes you knew ..petrol.  Oil that comes out of the ground and is processed and then put into your car.  It is difficult to believe it is true.

Beauty balm has been developed by Andrew Loosely to keep your lips the way nature intended with no petrol, no chemicals or toxins at all.

Just 100% natural and 90% organic ingredients including motherwort, peach and apricot kernels, sesame oil and beeswax.  Made carefully with love for you.

BBC million dollar traders

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I must remember to be in next monday night for the second episode of million dollar traders.  Not because I was interested in what they were doing (wannabees hedge fund trading just at the time the markets collapsed, but for the amazingly unhealthy lifestyle.

The man in charge (not Mr Big but Mr Big-gish) was appalled that two of them went off for a half an hour lunch.  He said he only had two lunches in 8 years!! The person who had been in the Army had red spots on his face that were getting worse during the second week .. what will they be like next time?

He needs Healthwise Purple Balm! How can these people make informed decisions with no food, no relaxation or fresh air during the day?

Apple cheeks need purple balm

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

I saw a poster on the tube the other day with a smiling child with red “apple” cheeks.  In the ad the child was meant to be a picture of health, but the cheeks looked red and angry and in fact not healthy at all.

I can’t now remember what the ad was for and it may have been retro fact-to-the-50′s.  In those days children’s books were full of pictures of happy children with smiling faces and bright red cheeks (think Mabel Lucie Attwell among others).  Red skin like this needs cooling and probably moisturing .. it needs healthwise Clinic’s Purple Balm!

Our Purple Balm is 100% natural and 90% organic.  All skin is precious – and of course a child’s skin is even more so – and it is important to only put the best products on it: no chemical nonsense with side effects.  Based on sesame oil and beeswax which nourish the skin, purple balm includes cooling herbs like indigo root, bletilla root and groomwell root which cool and calm the skin.  A small child’s red face may not look unhealthy, but it needs calming and moisturing especially in the winter.  :P urple balm can help any skin suffering from redness including roseacea and acne.
